Ad Campaign

Project Overview

This assignment is the start of the slide design project. Your goal is to find an ad that has been used professionally and create another version of that advertisment. The new version you create should mimic the design used by the company but should not be an exact recreation. Get it as close to the original as possible but using new images. 

This project is different from the creative ad project we just finished. DO NOT USE the creative ad created in the previous project. 

Instructions

  • Pick a Professional Ad (The easiest way to find a good ad is to first choose a company you are interested in (ex. Nike, UPS, Lego, etc.) and then do a Google search for the company name + the word “ads” (ex. Nike ads).
    • “BYU-Idaho Appropriate” (See syllabus)
    • Well designed
    • At least one line of text
    • The company logo should be included
    • Vector or raster-based
  • Create New Ad (This does not need to be a creative ad)
    • “BYU-Idaho Appropriate” (See syllabus)
    • Create a new unique ad (Photoshop or Illustrator)
    • Match dimension of original ad (150 resolution)
    • Must look like it is from the same campaign (Design, colors, typography, layout, visuals, message, etc)
    • Type in your text (don’t copy/paste text or other elements from the original ad)
    • Images or graphics need to be legally obtained (See course media usage requirements.)
    • Find and use the logo of the company (fair use will apply here)
  • Legally Obtain and Cite Sources (All images/resources used for this project must be legally obtained and cited)
    • We will utilize Fair Use on the original ad
    • We will utilize Fair Use on the logo
    • All other images/resources must be legally obtained
    • Download and Fill out the following document: Legally Obtained Resource Report

Assignment Submission

  1. Original Advertisement
    1. Open advertisement in Photoshop.
    2. Save as a High-Quality PDF.
  2. New Advertisement (created by you)
    1. Create your new advertisement using Photoshop or Illustrator.
    2. Save your project as a High-Quality PDF.
  3. Legally Obtained Resource Report
    1. Download and fill out the following document: Legally Obtained Resource Report
    2. Save the document as a PDF
