Adobe Software

NOTICE

Students will be recieve access to the Adobe programs the second day of the semester, or approxmiately 24 hours after you register for a qualifiying course. Please see a list of qualifying courses below. Students will NOT receive an email notifying them that hey have been added to the system.

Required Software Access

You will need access to Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop for this class. This can be on your personal computer or in one of the computer labs on-campus.

On-Campus Computer Labs

There are many computer labs on the BYU-Idaho campus. Here is information on a couple of them.

Personal Computer Access (BYU-Idaho Provided)

BYU-Idaho has provided you with free access to the Adobe programs because you are enrolled in this class. You can install these programs on your personal computer and you will have access to these programs until the end of the semester. See below for instructions on how to access this software on your personal computer.

Creative Cloud Subscription (All Apps)

Check out this link to see current student pricing for the Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes all the required programs for the course: https://creative.adobe.com/plans?plan=edu. This is usually billed monthly, but you are locked into a year contract.

Other Methods

The following other methods can be utilized, but problems that arise from using these will not constitute additional time for assignments or projects.

Older Downloads

You can look into older trial versions of the Adobe programs, but this is not guaranteed to work, and has limitations. Most of these trial versions give a 30 day period, but this will not span the length of the whole class. This trial period also could change at any time, leaving you without the programs. CS5 and CS6 are pretty comparable to the latest Creative Cloud versions, but there will be differences. Video tutorials, demonstrations, and other program specific instructions will also be written for Creative Cloud versions of the programs, which may require you to do a little more research if you are using the older versions.

On-campus Lab

There are several labs on campus that students can gain access to computers with the Adobe programs on them. Using these labs would require you to do all your work on-campus, which can be limiting. Open computers cannot be guaranteed, so it would be good to complete your work well before the final deadline.

Local Library

Sometimes you might find computer labs in local libraries or community centers that have the Adobe programs. This once again would have limitations, and open computers couldn’t be guaranteed.

Who will get access?

Currently, only students enrolled in the following classes will gain access to a BYU-Idaho Adobe Enterprice License. Students will be receive an email notifying them of this access to their BYU-I email account. Students will retain access until the end of the semester.

Common Questions

Can I pause my individual Adobe Cloud subscription?

No. There is no way to pause an individual Adobe subscription, but you can cancel your subscription without a cancelation fee. The University has an enterprise agreement (“ETLA”) with Adobe. Because of this benefit, individual Creative Cloud subscribers can terminate their contracts and not be charged the normal 50% fee.

Contact Adobe Support and be certain to inform the support agent that you are a student at BYU-Idaho, and you are provided Adobe Creative Cloud by the University. You may be asked to show the email informing you that you had been given access through the University.

What if I am on a waiting list?

Students on a waiting list will need to wait until they get enrolled to start the process of getting access. As soon as you are accepted into the class please reach out to your instructor and they will add you to a list that will be submitted for access.

I don't have a BYU-Idaho Username and Password

If you are a Pathway student that only knows how to log in with your BYU-Pathway Worldwide login, please reach out to the IT Help Desk (click this link to be directed to the IT Help Desk) for assistance. Tell them you will need a login and password for BYU-Idaho.
